Gold Cycle Tracker
Where are we in the cycle?
Overlays today against every gold bull run since 1970 and flags how many oil-shock transmission steps have triggered. Tells you whether we are bouncing off a bottom, stuck in a bearish phase, or inside a historical pattern that has paid off every time.
How to use it
Check this first. When several zones line up on the bullish side, treat the rest of the site as confirmation rather than lead.
A 0β100 sentiment score per asset (Gold, Silver, GDX, GDXJ) blending momentum, volatility, gold/silver ratio stretch, and miner leverage. Compresses noisy signals into one contrarian read.
How to use it
Extreme Fear (<25) has historically marked bottoms. Extreme Greed (>75) has historically marked blow-off tops. Pair it with the Cycle Tracker for the best setups.
One gold ounce buys N silver ounces. Above 80, silver is cheap. Below 50, gold is cheap. The ratio mean-reverts across cycles β the built-in calculator backtests swap rules against 25+ years of data.
How to use it
At extremes, swap between the two to compound your ounce count without adding cash. Optimal thresholds are auto-applied; override them to test your own rules.
Gold-to-miner ratio (XAU / GDX or GDXJ). High readings mean miners are cheap relative to the metal they dig β historically one of the best long setups. Seniors (GDX) are steadier; juniors (GDXJ) amplify both directions.
How to use it
Use the Miner Sentiment meter on the ETFs page for the current zone and 12-month forward return stats across 20 years of Gold/GDX ratio data.
Silver/SPX and Gold/SPX ratios back to 1900. When metals get cheap relative to equities (high ratio), large rotations historically begin β 1932, 1979, 2011. Paired with COMEX COT positioning back to 1986.
How to use it
Long-horizon signal. The 2000β2012 rotation paid silver +529% and gold +498% while the S&P returned β3%. Use for allocation conviction, not entries.
When HY credit spreads, yield-curve inversions, housing, jobless claims, SLOOS tightening or oil shocks fire, here is what Gold, Silver, GDX and GDXJ have historically done β every cycle since 1976.
How to use it
Not a timing tool β a conditional playbook. When a macro rule lights up, scan the forward-return table to see what history paid the patient holder.
Central banks buy gold when they stop trusting other peopleβs paper. Heavy accumulation = risk-off, geopolitical stress, deglobalisation. Quiet buying = confidence in the dollar system.
How to use it
Watch emerging-market buyers. Sustained BRICS accumulation has preceded every major gold leg of the last 20 years. A slow signal β use for conviction, not entries.

Backtest integrity
Every indicator uses only data that existed at time T. We respect publication delays, avoid revised series, and never look ahead. If it cannot be backtested honestly, we do not ship it.
